slowthai removed from Glastonbury and other UK festival line-ups after rape charges

slowthai has been removed from a number of UK festival line-ups, following court apperance earlier this week on two charges of rape.

The artist, real name Tyron Frampton, will no longer perform at festivals including Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds, and Parklife.

slowthai appeared in court on May 16, charged with two counts of rape relating to an incident in Oxford in September 2021.

The 28-year-old rapper was charged with oral and vaginal penetrative sex of the same woman without her consent; the prosecutor asked the court to refer the case to crown court, as the charge of rape was indictable only.

He was released on bail, with a further hearing scheduled for Oxford Crown Court on June 15.

slowthai has since posted a statement stating that he “categorically” denies the charges, adding that he is “innocent” and “confident” his name will be cleared.

Prior to his next hearing, the artist is set to headline the Dublin-based festival The Forbidden Fruit on June 4.

According to Pitchfork, his bookings at international festivals also still remain as well as his booking as Blur’s support act for their July 8 concert at Wembley.

Tickets are also still available for his European tour, “Ugly World Tour”, according to slowthai’s official website.

None of the festivals mentioned in this article have issued a statement regarding Slowthai’s removal at the time of publishing.
