Michael Bibi has been diagnosed with central nervous system lymphoma, a rare cancer that affects the spine and brain, and has been hospitalised for treatment.

Last month, after a period of inactivity, he shared details about health problems he was facing, which he initially thought was tinnitus.

Now after testing and consulation with doctors, he has shared further details of his condition in a post on Instagram, writing: “Hello world, writing this post is a hard one.. last week I was diagnosed with CNS Lymphoma. A very rare cancer that effects the brain & spine.

“Unfortunately it’s moving fast & l to have to stay in hospital starting treatment immediately.

“Typing this message doesn’t quite seem real & I’m sorry for the bad news. I don’t know what lies ahead, I’m tired but I know I am strong & I won’t let this beat me.”

“Wish me luck & I will be back stronger for you all. Love Bibi”.

The former Mixmag cover star is one of the most popular DJs in contemporary British dance music, regularly selling out the best clubs around the world with his popular Solid Grooves and ELOVATE party series, as well as being booked for prominent festival stages.

He’s released a number of EPs, specialising in groove-led house music. Most releases have arrived through his own Solid Grooves Records label, but also on imprints such as Snatch! Records and Repopulate Mars, with the latter putting out his popular 2018 track ‘Hanging Tree’ which marked a turning point in his career towards stardom.

He’s been heralded for his tireless work ethic and often plays lengthy sets, having spoken about experiences on the dancefloor as a form of meditation and healing.

A number of artists have commented to wish Michael well on his Instagram post, including Skrillex, Skream, Adam Beyer and Luciano.

Jamie Jones wrote: “Sending you love and positivity and praying for your speedy recovery my brother. I feel in my heart you will get to the other side of this. Stay strong like I know you to be.”
