Chicago acid house pioneer DJ Pierre and German trance legend Paul van Dyk have joined forces on a brand new three-track EP, ‘ACID TRAXXX’.

The record features two solo tracks from the pair, as well as a collaborative title-track featuring DJ Pierre’s Phuture group, running for almost nine minutes in length.

Speaking on the record, Van Dyk explained: “working with DJ Pierre has been a dream come true. He’s a founding member of music as we know it and revolutionised electronic music with his innovative use of the Roland TB-303.

“We wanted to create a track that pays homage to the roots of electronic music while pushing boundaries and taking listeners on a sonic journey.”

‘ACID TRAXXX’ landed on October 13, just ahead of Amsterdam Dance Event where the pair spoke to Mixmag’s Megan Townsend about the new record, and their first time using a Roland TB-303 to create the original acid sound.

“I don’t think I’ve made that many records without a 303,” Van Dyk explained. “Thanks to the people of Roland who made this machine which at the time was very cheap and affordable.”

In December, Van Dyk announced the launch of his new event series, titled VENTURE X, which has toured around the world in 2023 hitting Montreal, London, Amsterdam, New York, and more.

“Different aspects of music, its genres and colourations of sound have always been part of my sets,” he told Billboard. “With VENTURE X I take this approach even further, the set will be defined by itself.”
