Belfast’s renowned party The Night Institute has announced the launch of its eponymous record label, as the Northern Irish cult favourite approaches its ninth anniversary and consequent summer of celebrations.

Focusing on both vinyl and digital releases, and headed up by Timmy Stewart and Jordan Nocturne, the label’s purpose is to showcase the independence and cultural value on offer by Belfast’s club scene. It’ll feature tracks by both resident artists, and global artists who have played at the party.

For its inaugural release, alongside resident and labelheads Stewart and Nocturne, the record features The Bunker resident and Phonica Records regular Justin Cudmore and the collaboratively-driven Hifi Sean. Think lashings of acid, hearty chug and dancefloor-focus, available to check out now.

“We’re quite proud of the atmosphere that has been created through The Night Institute parties, and so starting the label was just our way of exporting the sound of our corner of Belfast’s underground to the rest of the world,” co-founders Jordan Nocturne and Timmy Stewart tell Mixmag.

“We are also very lucky to have some very talented friends around the world who send us new music to play at the party every month, and so it’s an also an opportunity to shine a light on these artists; in the case of the first record, it’s HiFi Sean and Justin Cudmore.”
