IMOGEN announces WIGS002 V/A celebrating the women of the party and label

IMOGEN has announced ‘WIGS002′, the forthcoming V/A from her party-turned-label Wigs, set for release on June 6.

The record is set to celebrate the women of Wigs and features labelhead IMOGEN alongside NVST, Rebecca Delle Piane and Grace Dahl traversing sounds of electro, techno and breakbeat.

With first single ‘Shoutout 2 LDN’ from IMOGEN landing earlier this month, this week (May 16) saw the release of Grace Dahl’s ‘I Like Em Sexy’ to complete the EP’s A-side — a linkup between the pair feeling almost inevitable following Dahl featuring on IMOGEN’s NTS show earlier this year.

“I decided to shake things up a bit and step out of the box on this one,” Grace Dahl says on her contribution to the V/A, which departs from her usual rolling techno. “Knowing Imogen’s diverse taste in dance music, I wanted to craft something entirely customised for her WIGS imprint. Venturing into this punchy break style was a first for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed the creative process!

“I couldn’t resist a subtle return to my established ‘four to the floor’ roots post-break though. All in all I feel like it’s a very fun and playable track for many different occasions. The recurring vocals being the little cherry on top to add to that cheeky vibe. ‘I like ‘em sexy, I like ‘em wild…”

Over on the B-side, Rebecca Delle Piane steps up with a hardgroove cut, welcoming 909 drums to construct a prime DJ tool, whilst NVST closes the affair with ‘A Face Has No Voice’ spanning eight minutes of dub, breaks and IDM.
