Chase & Status have finally released their highly-anticipated Stormzy collaboration, ‘Backbone’.
The track had set the internet abuzz when it was played during a show at Ushuaïa Ibiza last month, which saw Stormzy join the duo on stage. ‘Backbone’ had initially debuted during Chase & Status’ live set at Coachella in April, leaving fans eager for its release.

“We are so gassed to work with the legend that is Stormzy,” Chase & Status say. “We’ve always wanted to bring his energy into our world and are so excited for the fans to hear this collaboration.”
This weekend the pair, AKA Saul Milton and Will Kennard, performed their largest live show ever at the 45,000-capacity Milton Keynes Bowl.
2023 saw the duo release their 10-track album ‘2 Ruff Vol 1’, which was followed by the release of their hit single ‘Baddadan’ with fellow drum ’n’ bass DJ Bou — featuring Irah, Trigga, Flowdan and Takura.
The album, paired with ‘Baddadan’, saw Chase & Status named by The BRIT Awards as 2024’s Producers Of The Year.

Meanwhile, Stormzy has been working on his new multipurpose space Merky FC HQ in Croydon.
Teaming up with Adidas, the initiative and football club includes multi-purpose rooms such as a recording studio and sports gaming hub.
The new project follows the launch of the Merky FC Careers programme in 2022, which aims to address “racial equality in the football industry off-pitch”.
