Scottish DJ and producer Barry Can’t Swim has announced the upcoming release of his debut album, ‘When Will We Land?’ via Ninja Tune.

The highly anticipated record follows a string of EPs and remix packs from the producer including his breakout four-tracker ‘Amor Fati’ and 2022’s ‘More Content’.

‘When Will We Land?’ drops on October 20 featuring 11 tracks, and is said to drive through jazz, house, and ambient with influences from afrobeat and other percussive sounds.

Calling the release of his debut album ‘a huge personal milestone’, the producer told fans on Instagram that the 11-tracker has spent just under a year in the works. “I’ve poured everything I have into it, and really hope yous like it,” he said.

The first single from the new record landed earlier today: ‘Woman’, featuring vocals from English singer-songwriter Låpsley in a shoegaze-house crossover.

“I sent it out – Låpsley came back immediately with this unreal vocal,” he explains. “I chopped it up, re-arranged it… it’s one of those things that fell into place.”

Speaking on the record, Barry Can’t Swim adds: “I wanted it to have the energy of electronic music but also with a more organic live element. I feel like I’m more of a musician than anything else. I’m a producer but I like writing music on instruments.

“You only get to make your debut album once,” he says. “So I want to showcase all the elements of the things I enjoy and love in music up to this point.”

‘When Will We Land?’ arrives in October, just ahead of the producer’s next UK/EU live tour. He’s set to hit Dublin, London, Paris, Berlin, Glasgow, Amsterdam, and more. Check out the full spread of tour dates below.
