The opening night saw queues around the block from around 9:PM, according to Bossa Nova’s owner John Barclay.

“We didn’t think it was gonna happen. The opening night was pandemonium,” Barclay told DJ Mag. “We are looking forward to doing what we’ve been doing for the past decade.”

Bossa Nova Civic Club first opened in late 2012 with a capacity of just 140. After the blaze broke out in January the club took to social media, announcing: “The building sustained significant damage and it’s safe to say we will be closed for a notable amount of time.

“We will update soon. Thank you so much for 9 years of support and friendship,” they said. A GoFundMe page was subsequently set up to help the venue get back on its feet, as well as help staff and tenants of the building.

Since then, the team behind Bossa Nova launched a brand new invite-only club, Venus In Furs. The multi-story venue throws exclusive parties with a strict invite-only policy and an exclusive RSVP process.
