ItaloJohnson plan to split up after almost 15 years together, Resident Advisor reports.

The agent for the mysterious trio – who refer to themselves as ‘R’, ‘M’ and ‘J’ – has confirmed that their final shows will take place across the upcoming Easter weekend.

Their final show will be at the Berghain’s Easter party, Oster Klubnacht, where they will be playing the closing set at Panorama Bar on Monday, April 1.

Before this, ItaloJohnson will be playing a penultimate set at Bassiani in Tbilisi, Georgia, on March 29 with party promoters Mala Junta.

ItaloJohnson formed back in 2010 with their self-released ‘Untitled’ EP and mission to share “simple body soul music”.

The anonymous trio spoke with Mixmag back in 2016 where they shared that they all met on the dancefloor of Panorama Bar in 2006.

R explained to Mixmag: “We knew each other a bit before then, we all had our own musical stories, but this was the time we became friends, and discovered that we all had the exact same ideas about sound.

“We were just ready at that moment: minimal and microhouse was dominating everything in Germany but becoming stale, then Panorama Bar came along with residents like Cassy and Prosumer who played straight-ahead house music but with this real sharp style. It was raw beats, stripped down, really groovy, funky, repetitive… we loved it.”

The trio had been regularly performing internationally, playing the likes of Berlin’s ÆDEN, Paris’ Sacré and releasing new music all in 2023 alone.

ItaloJohnson are yet to release a statement confirming the news of their split.

Mixmag has contacted ItaloJohnson for more information.
