I was into heavy music growing up and spent my teenage years playing the drums and blasting my ears with grunge and metal. It wasn’t until my brother introduced me to the Melbourne dance music scene in the late 90s that my love affair with electronic music was born (and the tinnitus truly began!).
The long hair was soon cut off and the drum kit was sold to finance the purchase of a couple of battered old 1200s from a local nightclub. My drumming background had given me a passion for breakbeats and I played out at a number of events in the early-mid 2000s before hanging up the headphones to focus on work and study.
The itch to play never left me and the purchase of a controller a few years ago has brought it back stronger than ever! DJing is just so much better on a modern setup, despite what the vinyl purists might say
