Bristol venue Motion is set to host a fundraiser event in aid of the Turkey-Syria earthquake appeal this coming weekend.

On April 1, Motion will host a pay-what-you-can party headlined by Bristol’s own Redlight, with a ‘very special guest’ yet to be announced. Other names on the line-up include Royal T, Champion, and Subshift.

The venue asks for a minimum entry fee of £5, which will go toward the ongoing crisis aid for those affected by the Turkey-Syria earthquake which killed more than 56,000 people and left thousands injured earlier this year.

“We will always strive to use our resources and platform to help raise money and awareness for important causes such as this, whether it’s on a local or global scale,” says Motion’s Head of Marketing & Programming Manager, George Thoburn.

“Motion wants to support communities in every way we can, as we strongly believe community and togetherness are what raving is all about.”

All money collected will go directly towards the British Red Cross Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal, and aims to support survivors, those in need of medical help, crisis support, and those struggling through freezing conditions.

Donations will be used to distribute essentials like food and water, provide blankets, set up temporary shelters, assist rescue efforts, and provide psychological care.

In response to the devastating event, record labels and venues across Europe have come together to aid those affected by the crisis. In recent weeks, Müstena Records, SouqSounds, Eastenderz, and more labels have created fundraiser compilation records in support.

In February, nightclubs in Turkey also mobilised to aid earthquake relief efforts. Mixmag Turkey compiled a list of organisations to donate to.
