Nikki Nair has shared his latest single, which showcases a different side to his sonic output.
‘Can’t Wait’ is a whimsical glitchy pop-blues track, which sees Nair sing full vocals for the first time ever on his productions.
The track laments the struggle of nine-through-five work life, yearning for summer and its associated adventures, and was written inspired by very specific personal experiences.

“I wrote this track when had a day job as a radar engineer,” Nair explains. “It was mid-pandemic and I didn’t know if I’d ever be able to make music full time so life felt pretty empty.
“The words in the song are kind of what I thought life was going to be forever as a working person.”
Accompanying the original track is a remix from Stockholm avant-techno producer Peder Mannerfelt. Described as creating the rework in “his most chaotically evil mood”, Mannerfelt warps Nair’s vocals in a call-to-action-like manner, with a pounding kick throughout and menacing peaks and troughs.

Nair has been busy recently with a consistent production output encompassing his hybridised sound of electro, breaks, and elements of UK bass and techno. Reflecting such in his erratic – yet uniform and succinctly curated – DJ sets, inspiration from the underground DIY party scene of the south east is rife throughout with his intuition leading the way from beginning to end.
