Legendary music duo Orbital have announced a tour of the UK and Ireland, which will follow the release of their new album ‘Optical Delusion’.

The first date of the tour will be at Belfast’s Mandela Hall on March 15, with the final stop in Brighton on April 8 at the Brighton Centre.

Other cities that Phil and Paul Hartnoll will visit include Dublin, Limerick, Glasgow, Manchester, London and Leeds, with tickets going on general sale this Friday (December 16) at 10:AM.

‘Optical Delusion’ will be the 10th studio album from the legendary Kent-hailing brothers, and is released on February 17, 2023.

Much of the album was conceived during the pandemic lockdowns but was recorded in the aftermath.

Last week, Orbital released their second single from the album, ‘Ringa Ringa (The Old Pandemic Folk Song)’, featuring vocals from The Mediaeval Babes – a soaring track reminiscent of classic Orbital works, with ravey 90s stabs placed over a groovy, cross-rhythmic beat.

The lyrics of the haunting vocals reinterpret the children’s nursery rhyme ‘Ring O’Roses’, a reference to the pandemic that ravaged Europe in the mid-14th century, The Black Death. Take a listen below:

Earlier this year, the Hartnoll brothers soundtracked a television mini-series, ‘The Pentaverate’ for Netflix, which the brothers described as “possible some of their best work ever!”
