Skin On Skin announces European tour with profits going to Sudan crisis

South Sudan-born, Australia-based DJ and label head Skin On Skin has announced his next tour across Europe in support of the current crisis in Sudan, Resident Advisor reports.

Teaming up with Choose Love, a nonprofit organisation aiding refugees, Skin On Skin is set to donate profits from his forthcoming tour to support the families affected by ongoing conflicts in South Sudan’s neighbouring country.

Since mid-April Khartoum has been the epicentre of a power struggle between the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the military of the Republic of Sudan, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).

Tensions between both forces escalated after an internationally-backed plan to launch a new transition with civilian parties was due to be signed in early April – on the fourth anniversary of the revolution against the country’s former dictator Omar al-Bashir.

Skin On Skin’s fundraising tour kicks off on October 27 at Barcelona’s Nitsa Club, concluding on November 25 at Paris’ Le Trabendo. Stops on the way include Glasgow, Brussels, Amsterdam and London.

Last week, Skin On Skin performed a surprise intimate show at London’s The Glove That Fits in support of Choose Love, where he performed solo from 7:30PM until midnight.

Taking to social media last Monday, he shared: “We’ve joined together with Choose Love for a special intimate show in support to aid the People of Sudan during this time of ongoing crisis.”

Shortly after fighting broke out in Sudan’s capital of Khartoum in April, Skin On Skin was forced to flee after being stuck in the city with his family for two weeks.

He told fans that he had to cancel his show at Horst Music & Arts Festival for reasons of mental and physical exhaustion, and needing to take some time at home.
