SONIKKU has announced his forthcoming album, ‘Whirlwind of Malevolence’, set for release on April 12.

It’s promised to be multi-genre (think electronica, hip hop, Europop and trance) and multi-collaborative, modelled around the idea of chronologically capturing an all-out night partying.

Alongside the announcement, SONIKKU shared lead single ‘Debaucherous’, produced with Partiboi69, which he claims “encapsulates the whole vibe” of the LP. Think stabs of synth, snappy drumbeats and hyperactive vocals; and account its title to none other than a YouTube soundbite.

“This track is humorous, fun and sounds like a night out. I started off with the word Debaucherous which I heard in a Youtube video called ‘Dancefloor Debauchery’ which sees partygoers being interviewed at a rave. I sampled one of the interviews and it appears at the beginning of the song. I thought Partiboi69 would be a perfect fit for this song and he instantly resonated with the demo and we began writing the track. The song is inspired by Bodyrox and also ‘Wearing my Rolex’ by Wiley; they both have a specific late 2000’s baseline sound that I’m obsessed with and appears in many of my songs.”

“The album is extremely varied as I wanted to include all the genres I listen to and reflect as much of my personality as possible. I’ve always been told ‘you’re too pop for dance, too dance for pop’. I like sitting in that weird zone of uncertainty.”

Alongside Partiboi69, collaboration partners include live-coding producer DJ Dave, R&B musician Bayli, Spain’s Raky Ripper, Miss Madelin and rapper Deto Black. And, with two more singles marked to drop before the LP’s full release, the full story of SONIKKU’s wild night is set to slowly unfurl.
