Sussex Police have sold eight speakers on eBay, after confiscating them from an illegal rave last Summer.

In a statement to Mixmag, Sussex Police said the stacks were taken from a small, 50-person illegal rave in the Forest Row area of East Sussex on June 17, 2023.

The equipment was listed for sale on eBay several months later, as a result of no one coming forward to claim it.

“No one from the gathering claimed ownership of the equipment, so it was posted for sale online,” Sussex Police tell Mixmag.

The police described the speakers as “mixed brand” and “quite scruffy from use and being dragged around” — with the system eventually selling for £72 on the Sussex Police eBay account.

Money raised via this eBay account goes towards the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF) which is described to “help support local projects undertaken by voluntary/charitable organisations that solely benefit the communities of Sussex.”

The police operate the online shop after items have been handed in as lost property and not claimed or, goods that have been confiscated by order of court.

Currently, the Sussex Police eBay account has other music equipment up for sale such as a Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX6 at £225 and a Pioneer DJ DDJ-400 on sale for £60.
