It all began when Darren “Daz” Jones was born in Leeds in 1986 and with those initials, he was always going to be DJ BY Name.
DJ BY Name like a lot of other DJs started playing vinyl in his bedroom aged 14. In his late teenage years, he managed to get a gig at a local club called XS. As time
moved on he swapped standing behind the decks to dancing in front of them and this is where he gained an education in dance music, inspiring the sets you hear from him today.
The party scene was always a release for Daz and he would regularly venture up to Tall Trees for Paul Taylor’s retro night, further tuning his ear for the classic tunes you hear in his mixes now. Ibiza was obviously a regular destination, either for the opening or closing parties.
Enjoying festivals also has shaped DJ BY Name’s musical vibes. Creamfields, Global Gathering, Glastonbury and Love Leeds are just a few he’s visited over the years.
Biography
2018 DJ BY NAME went digital and slowly started to get back into spinning the tunes.
With what happened to the world in 2020 this gave him an even bigger opportunity to
sharpen his skills behind the wheels of steel.
Fast forward to 2022
DJ BY Name now has his first radio show with a weekly hour-long set every Tuesday at 7 pm on Club Ready Radio. A monthly residency in Ibiza
Stardust Radio soon followed along with a guest mix for a well Puzzled Music record label. Daz is the co-founder of “FML” Funk My Life Events currently running the last Friday of every month at Ivory in Harrogate and soon to be in other venues.
2022 also see DJ BY Name makes his Ibiza debut at up-and-coming venue NUI Ibiza. DJ BY Names’ vibe is everything and anything Classic Piano House, House, Funky House and Disco / NuDisco.
